Ok it takes 30 12 ozcans to make 1 lb but now they have cut prices down to lows of 40 cents a lb in usa and high is 45 cents a lb here in Pa eastern side. The Breweries cut their prices down on the recycled aluminumSO without crushing cans you can load about 20 lbs in large trash bags this would take at least an hour on the streets in large city9$ an hour not to badBUT if you live in small towns it could take all day to gather 20 lbs and now your making maybe a $1 an hourI stopped doing cans a yaer ago and i have access to large piles at local sports complex 100 - 200 lbs i have collected in 7 hours time but when prices were way up as much as .70 cents a lb yeah $70 - $140 per day! So maybe for kids today to make allownce money but for those of us who need to make $500 - $1000 a week by pass the cans you think? 1 mop pole or broom pole 1 lb of aluminum i rather pick up 100 of them than 3000 cans!
if what you are doing is bringing some satisfaction then continue with it/ think there are a great deal of positives collecting cans - 1 - does bring in some income 2 - most importantly - HELPS CLEAN UP THE ENVIRONMENT!! 3 - prevents seniors those requiring help from tripping over them 4 - also if the cans are split open they can be quite dangerous for humans pets// regardless - think you are doing a great service to the community if you like it boosting your own self-worth regardless of what you are doing/
