Question:

Is shop class (tech) really dangerous?

I started highschool and im taking shop and so far all we have done is safety stuff. I'm really nervous about the machines and everything. The teachers were talking about how some kids came really close to getting arms cut off and whatever. So they brought in kids ripped up clothes to show us and I'm not gonna lie, that scared the hell out of me. I think grade 9 we don't really use the machines much but idk. Is it really dangerous or am i over reacting? Im from Ontario if that helps.
