Question:

Is the boom of a moveable crane a lever?

Where are levers used in and throughout the crane

Answer:

No, i wouldn't say so, but they are used to control the boom.
No. A lever requires a fulcrum and a boom has none. As ststed the levers are used to operate the hoisting mechanism.
the boom itself can become a lever if the load lifted is greater than the cranes capacity and causes the crane to tip over--the weight acts upon the boom(lever)--the pivot point of the boom becomes the fulcrum and OSHA will soon drop by to find out why!
Crane Boom is a lever; pulleys and cables attached to the boom and machinery house create the mechanical advantage needed to lift heavy loads.
