Ok I live in a 16 floor apartment (including basement and pent hOuse) and the floors from the elevator are in this order Basement, Lobby, 2, 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14,15, then penthouse
The reason there is no 13th floor is because some people are afraid of the number 13 (Triskaidekaphobia) so that the apartment block owners can (hopefully) attract more people to stay in the apartments.
Go outside and count the windows.
No its just for the superstitious folk as 13 is an unlucky number
The 14th floor is the 13th floor. No secrets about it. Labelling something with the number 13 is generally considered to be unlucky in western society. 4 is unlucky in Asia. It sounds like the word for death in Chinese. Most apartment buildings in Asia don't have a 4th floor. 3rd, then they skip to 5th.
