I‘ve been having transmission issues where occasionally one gear would slip shift hard. I‘m going to get it fixed soon, but when they‘ll put fluid back into it I want to know if trans additive(s) (which claim to help prevent slipping shifting hard) is a good idea when they refill the fluid.
You should of been changing the fluid occasionally instead of not, and now trying to repair by a mechanic in a can. Seldom do repairs in a can work. Your just putting off what you know is comingPreventative maintenance pays.
No , additives are not needed or even a good idea. New fluid is all thats needed. But an additional cooler is sometimes a good idea. I knew a transmission shop that would extend thier rebuild warrenty if you had them install a cooler at rebuild time. Heat is a transmissions worst enemy.
do not change your trans fluid the Metal shards from the broken gear are probly the only thing keeping it going and yes they will help just do not over Fluid it
