Question:

How can fish tolerate plastic plants?

I thought plastic wasn't healthy. At least it's not healthy for us. How come plastic plants are everywhere in fish tanks but fish don't seem to mind? Can plastic harm them in any way?

Answer:

The plastic doesn't harm them at all. The only problem plastic plants could cause in a tank, is sharp edges. It has nothing to do with the chemistry of the plastic. And plastic can only harm people when it is heated and cooled over and over again, such as if you leave a water bottle in a car for a long time, and it really isn't even that bad for people. The only reason you hear about it is cause health freaks need something to complain about.
most plastic plants today are harmless to pet fish. I have seen small fish like guppies entangled in them though and someone needed to free them. I have always preffered live plants which consume carbon dioxide and waste and produce oxygen.
The plastic is inert. I've raised fish for over thirty years. and lived with plastic things for longer. Still alive and kicking here. i've even worked in a plastic plant.. bably made some of the plastic forks you've used over the years. Still kicking! So are the fish. Like everything else, it depends on what and how its being used.
The pastic is inert. It does nothing to the water. Just like we can drink water from a plastic bottle and eat food from a plastic plate with a plastic fork. Fish can live with plastic plants in a plastic fish tank. What you are thinking of is waste plastic going into the sea. It doesn't break down for a long time (because it's inert). So it gets eaten by turtles and dolphins, and still doesn't break down... So turtles get straved because their gut is full of old plastic bags that they thought were jellyfish. So plastic is safe in your fish tank, but dont thow it in the sea... Ian
plant life desire filtration too. without filtration a plant will merely die and supply off waste on your tank. Bowls are no longer meant for aquatic set ups. era. Get a tank and filter out and we can tank. And to boot, plant life take up carbon dioxide and supply off oxygen. At evening they take up oxygen however the filter out might desire to have the skill to aerate the water sufficient for them. The air bubbler bubbles DO no longer something. whilst they hit the water floor they're going to shake it and that's what makes oxygen enter your tank. that's different from those bubbles are oxygen prosperous candies. they're purely for show purely. Even filters can get the comparable effect for you. in certainty, a precise stocked tank by no potential desires an aerator. The filter out on my own can aerate the water sufficient.
