Are you joking to expect an aluminum plate can produce enough current to let a current meter to readYou should try it with selenium plate that could produce a few uA , and that has been proved over 60 years agoOr you should let the plate input to a at least 100,000 times dc current amplifier ( multi stage low noise Op-amp) to enlarge it before the DC current meter might give an indication.
