Question:

Issues with Landlord and broken boiler?

Hey allMyself and my flatmates are currently without our boiler. this has recently failed (Friday gone). He had the same issues 1 week prior and the issue was fixed. But the engineer advised us and the landlord a new boiler is needed.Since Friday we have been unable to contact our landlord to understand what is in place for a new boiler. we have been without Heating or Hotwater this weekendWhat are my right in getting this resolved? Contact my local council (london) for advise?(The property is managed byt the landlord... not the lettings agency we originally used)Thank you

Answer:

im having the same issue. Our landlord goes out for days at a time, and the boiler breaks at least once a week. If it happens when hes not home, then it doesnt get fixed and we freeze until he shows up. Its an old boiler and desperately just needs to be replaced- I know hes not going to though because he has no money. I dont know what to advise you to do but I can tell you that Ive already started looking for a new place because Ive been putting up with this for a year. If you have a better landlord, then maybe youll have more luck. Nice knowing im not alone, kind of lol however, you could do what someone suggested to me- Call a repairman, have them do the work, and then deduct the money off your rent.
