Why do so many people believe the hype about KN Filters and cold air intakes. They do not do anything for performance the filters do not flow any better than a wix paper filter and you still have to spend as much money to clean them as it would cost to buy a new paper filter. and every car made in the lst 20 years already has a air duct going to outside the car so they get fresh outside air. The only thing that you gain by buying cold air intake is a more empty wallet. And the they make your car sound like it has a vacuum leak with all the hissing
Operate the wiper and stop. Switch off the ignition and remove the car key. Remove the wiper blade carefully. (holding the wiper arm) Leave the wiper arm slowly on the windscreen. Remove the mounting nut and take the wiper arm out. Go back to the seat and operate the wiper again and switch it off. Remove the car key out. Slowly insert the wiper arm in lowest correct position and tight the nut. XXXXX MAKE SURE YOU NOT ALLOW TO ROTATE THE DRIVE SPINDLE WHEN FIXING AND TIGHTNING. Fix wiper blade carefully and check for operation. xxxxx ITS SIIMPLE, MAKE SURE THE CAR KEY IS REMOVED DURING FIXING AND REMOVING. GOOD LUCK
The wiper motor has an internal stop switch that is suppose to stop the wipers in the down position. Sounds like that switch is no longer working. I don't know if it can be repaired or if the motor will have to be replaced. You might be able to find a replacement at a salvage yard. A new one might be a dealer item, but you might check an auto parts store. .Good Luck.
i have a kn filter on my 6.5 liter turbo diesel and have for 4 years.before i got it every 6 months i would have to get a new one becuse my low air flow light came on. but with the kn it never comes on i have removed it one time and shook the dust off and thats it. the papper filters i had to buy cost 45.00 so that was all most 100 a year the kn was 100 so i have allready saved 300 and my kn will last many more years.so I KNOW thay have more flow and more flow longer
The oiled gauze air filter is nothing new, they were fitting them to production cars in the fifties as standard . I don't know why paper elements became so widespread, but it certainly created a market for paper filters that had to be thrown away every few thousand miles. They were cleaned in petrol and reoiled quite easily . They do work quite well increasing the air rate in the induction system. The downside that I found with mine was that it was impossible to connect the warm air intake system to it so more petrol was wasted on short journeys with the engine taking longer to warm up.
Agreed. Cold air intakes may have made engineering sense when cars pulled hot air from under the hood otherwise (and had carburettors) but as you say, all newer cars pull cold air from outside the engine bay already. Marketing people are really good at getting people to buy crap they don't need and crap that doesn't do all that it claims to do. I think cold air intakes are just another example of that. If you like the sound fine (and I do actually like the sound of an aftermarket intake without the OEM airbox.), just don't expect the miraculous power gains the manufacturers claim to be true.
