Question:

LCD monitor backlight fading time?

Based on your personal experience, how long should an average 19 LCD monitor stay on before the lamp fades and the images lose brightness?Did it happen to you? A pal told me it's about two years with 8 hour daily usage.Could I expect a shorter fall time in the case I leave it always on (even when I'm not looking at it) or will frequent on-off cycles damage it more quickly?Thank you, very appreciated!

Answer:

appears like the bulb burned out. make effective the twine is geared up fermly in the port and cycle the ability to the moniter. If that doesn't artwork than it sounds like it desires some maintenance.
that doesnt sound right, i bought a 22 LG monitor for Gaming and when i got it it said that i should have a life of 40,000 hours or somethign like thatyour monitor really shouldnt fade within a couple of years, and turning your monitor on or off will not hurt it, i always shut mine off if im going somewhere real quick or doing something else.sounds like you got a bad monitor, hope you can return iti would call and complain they should send you a new one.
LCD monitors typically have an expected lifespan of 50000-60000hours so even if they dim at half that amount of time (which they really shouldn't) that should be good for over 19years with 24 hour a day usageie if you take good care of your monitor then the last thing to fail will be your lampI have however heard of damage to the color being caused by direct exposure to UV rays (sunlight) so if you have a monitor that spends a lot of time in a sunny location you may want to consider moving it.
