Question:

LCD Monitor Backlight?

I think my monitor's Blacklight has hit the crapper. This is what happened. A couple months ago the Monitor's screen started flickering, then it stopped and was fine. The next day the computer screen started flickering again, but this time the screen went black.I turned off the monitor for a couple seconds and turned it back on. The screen stayed on for 1 second and then went black again. This happens after every time I turn it on and off. The picture and everything looks great when I put my face up to the screen, I can still see the pictures (etc)So, I think it's the Blacklight. Is this easy and cheap to fix ? Also I have not had the computer/Monitor that long. Not even a year. Why did this happen ? I think I still have a warranty, but I am just curious

Answer:

Try this first Unplug your monitor from its power source (the wall, power strip, etc). Then unplug it from the back of your computer. Wait a few minutes, then plug it back in. Power up your computer to see if this solves your problem. It may be as simple as a loose connection, as this has happened to me. And this may sound out of the norm, but in the summer when all the electricity was being pulled from Com Ed, my flat panel monitor was flickering just like you say yours is. Or It is possible that your back light simply failed. This does happen for whatever reasons unknown. But check to see if your monitor may be under warranty. Usually a call to the warranty department will do the trick. They take hand at troubleshooting problems such as these everyday. Godspeed!
