Question:

LCD monitor. DVI VS VGA?

I have an new LCD monitor. It has two cables so it can connect to 2 different computers. One cable uses DVI and one uses VGA. Is there a performance difference depending on witch one I use? My video card has 1xVGA and 1xDVI output. I am just wondering if there is a quaility difference between the two. Thanks.

Answer:

Did you get your new PC YET??? cause i could custom build you one that is better and cheaper, jut pm me if you are interested.
No,the image high quality will truthfully be extra desirable and the alternative variety is an analogous. the only distinction is in the common on the cables mandatory - because of the fact the VGA is in analog, decrease cables degrade the image.
DVI is better than VGA for TFTs because they are digital and VGA is analog. A TFT displayes its picture digitally, pixel per pixel. Via DVI the panel gets data for each pixel, so the picture generated in the graphics card will match exact with the pixels on the panel itself. If you are using an expensive LCD monitor then you may (may) see a change in the quality of the picture.
Dvi Vs Vga Quality
Actually, the monitor has 2 ports so you can choose which interface to use (not hook it up to 2 PCs). As for DVI vs. VGA, go DVI. DVI is an all-digital, high-quality interface, which provides much higher deffenition on the monitor than VGA would. VGA is an aging monitor standard, since it's analog, somewhat low-quality, and must be converted from a digital signal, to an analog one to pass through the cable, and back to a digital signal once it reaches the monitor. Since you have the option, I would go DVI to get a crisper picture from your computer. I'm actually about to upgrade my LCD monitor to one that has DVI, since mine only has VGA. Basically, DVI gives you a Clariton Clear picture (lol) and VGA gives you an acceptable one.
