Question:

LCD TV vs LCD computer monitor?

I want another monitor to have dual monitors for my computer. I'm thinking of just getting an LCD tv because it is for my dorm room and then i could use it as a TV as well. Are there any big disadvantages to using an LCD tv as my computer monitor instead of just an LCD monitor?

Answer:

You kind of have to take care of the quality of the TV. I bought a LCD Tv from Philips and it had a terrible input lag Then I bought one from Sony and it's perfect. Also you have to check if you're PC is 'strong' enough to handle the high resolution if you get a HD (1080p) Tv and if you can connect your PC to a TV.
Tv Vs Monitor For Computer
Hell no. Im playing game and watching movie all day with a Sony 32PO LCD , If you want the model its KDL 32L4000. I cant play with a 17 - 20 '' TV anymore XD. Gaming is Amazing on it and so movie. Youll experience a new gameplay with a big TV in front of you. Just an advice if you have a monster PC and play gaming, get a 1080P. Be sure that you have a PC in behind the TV. you clearly wont regret it. PS. Boost your Graphic card Digital vibrance ( Color ) to 70 - 100 depends how you like it.
No using an LCD or LED Tv as Pc monitor is not going to cause any problems. But if you are into games and you don't like to compromise then go for a monitor since monitors have faster response 2ms than a Tv. Plus I would suggest you to by a (Pc) monitor and a Tv tuner to put at your Pc, so you ll be able to watch/record Tv as well from your PC. The ASUS MY CINEMA PS3-100 HYBRID + DVB-S PCI TV TUNER ASUS MY CINEMA PS3-100 HYBRID + DVB-S PCI TV TUNER is really good. It has DVB-S DVB-T as well the standard one. This tuner cost around ?60 plus a good monitor at 22 at 1080p, 3ms and 3D around 300?. Hope I helped :)
most lcd tvs now are about or the same as monitors. the only difference there would be is the ports that the tv has. some lcd tvs have a vga port. a vga port is the 15 pin plug for your monitor. if the computer uses DVI there are adapters and adapter cables available to convert to vga for the tv. or if the computer has hdmi. you may also be able to use s Video if your computer has this port and the tv does. try to match ports this will be easiest. there are many converters available too but if it needs power i would avoid it because this may degrade the picture. here are some adapter types (powered) vga to RCA, vga-S Video- (non powered) vga to component, dvi vga.
