Me and my wife want to buy some LED lights for our house while my son wants to start a Christmas lights business. I'm looking for tips (and sites) for both).
The most common problem with LED Christmas lights is getting the specific color you want. For some reason, blue Christmas lights sell out before I reach the store. So if you want something similar -- blue, green, red or purple lights -- make sure you shop early (mid-Novemeber is a good time to start your holiday shopping). The alternative to stores is of course the Internet. You can shop online, check out discounts, or request custom lights well in advance. Look for a store that categorizes lights into popular categories: * Bulb Christmas Lights * Icicle Christmas Lights * Light Accessories * Mini LED Christmas Lights * Specialty Christmas Lights * Wrap/Net Christmas Lights This works great if you're buying lights for your home, or if need supplies for your son's Christmas lighting business.
lights do not heat up. If the cord is in good shape you and leave them on forever (almost). I have had a string of LED christmas lights in my window on continously for three years now with no problems. I was thinking of putting a timer on them so they would only be on after dark but there was no point. The timer took three watts and the lights only two. No point in burning three watts all the time to save two watts part of the time :-)
