inform him it would be unfair treatment and should they fire you, you will be finding an attorney to pursue the matter. Yeah you may not be the most liked person at the job after that but at least you may still have a paycheck coming in. Who cares if ALL your co-workers like you or not.!!!!
The places that sell workout equipment usually sell strong rubber mats designed to protect the floor and isolate the noise. You may want to check them out. I've also seen those mats at Target and WalMart. HTH
