I was just wondering how one could lift a car with out the use of a hydraulic lift like the ones at car repair shops.I am trying to decide weather to suck it up and pay the exhaust shop $400+ to chop and swap my muffler or do it my self for free with just as good results.
Jack stands will support much more than your Silverado. No problem. But don't buy cheap garbage.
lift one corner at a time with a floor jack and put jack stands at all four corners. i would assume that's the only safe way to do it at home without a car lift.
Go to Sears, or harbor freight tools and buy a floor jack and some jack stands. Then you can do all kinds of repair work whenever you want to& change your own oil, etc. The cost of the jack will pay for itself many times over with savings on maintanance that you can do yourself
