Question:

Looking for tongue and groove ceramic tiles?

Saw them used on numerous television shows but I can‘t find where to purchase them. I called home depot and they have no clue what I am talking about. Anyone know where I can find a store or website that sells the tongue and groove ceramic tiles?

Answer:

Your can tile directly over cement with no problem most of the time. Use thinnset and you should be fine even if your basement floods occasionally. The problems you may face are if your cement floor is already cracked and uneven. If it is uneven then you need to use a leveler on it before you install the tile. BUT do not stop the slope for drainage if you have a floor drain. Because it is below grade I would recommend a Silicone sealer be mixed in with the grout and seal the grout again after a few weeks.
