Pretty much ever female is low in iron. Everyday I take a liquid formula call FLORIDEX it has iron n B vitamins n so on. Its great. Tastes like cranberry. Iron TABLETS will make you constipated ) I use to get dizzy aswell But im also a nervous person so my shallow breathing helped with that. I ahve also found I have Hyperthyroidism, an overactive thyroid, can make you lose weight and feel nervous, anxious, warm feeling inside but cold hands and feet and constantly hungry. Hope all goe's well. Good luck. NO ones likes bein sick x
Feeling sleepy? Hemoglobin is the component of red blood cells that transports oxygen to the brain. Iron is a component of hemoglobin. The normal range for women's hemoglobin is 12-16. If you ask your doctor to prescribe you a complete blood count, you have your blood drawn to see what your hemoglobin level is. If your hemoglobin is below 12 it may mean that you need an iron supplement, however the best way to receive Iron is through foods that naturally contain high amounts of iron. Try spinach, steak, etc. Frosted mini wheats and other cereals are FORTIFIED (which means they add vitamins into your sugary cereal to make them seem more nutritionally valuable). The funny thing is, most people eat cereal with milk and milk actually makes it harder for your body to absorb iron. The best way iron is absorbed is on an empty stomach with orange juice. :-) So I hope this helps. (coming from an anemic RN.)
I have been dealing with some of the symptoms you described for many years. I was told I was low in iron/anemic. Even after taking iron supplements my health did not improve. I requested that my doctor do complete blood work. She found out that I had a B12 deficiency and need monthly injections. Also I was reading that even with B12 injections the source of the problem starts with the stomach and a gastroscopy would help detect any absorption issues. Hope this helps.
