Question:

Making gravy ?

If I'm frying some steak in a frying pan, can I use the little amount of fat and oil left and make it into a gravy? or does it have to come from oven baked turkey?

Answer:

Sounds like fun!!! If sharing isn't an issue, they could each bring their own favorite stuffed teddy bearI had a bear party once and I had the parents write the child's name on a piece of masking tape stuck to the bears undersideYou could let the kids march around the house to the tune of teddy bears picnic or happy birthday as if they were in a paradeLittle kids like doing this type of thing as it can help get the wiggles out if they have a sugar high from cake/ice creamIf the children zip through the activities planned, you could always have coloring pages of teddy bears and supply the kids with chunky crayonsSo long as there aren't any crayon eaters in the crowdWhen the party was over I had the kids eating teddy grahams and watching a paddington bear DVDThese are just time filler ideas if you end up with more time than party :) Have fun assign an adult to video tape take photos, you'll be busy!
Check the label on the worsted weight yarn- it will tell you the recommended needles to use, and the suggested gaugeIf the needle size and gauge are the same in the pattern, you should be all setIf they're different, you need to figure out what needle size you need to use to get the gauge that is listed in the pattern.
they are totally different partsacrylic is the stuff it is made of ,man made as opposed to pure wool from sheep, goat, worsted is a weight , like baby yarn is thin and weighs less then worsted, sport weight is another weightacrylic is used many times because it is stronger then its counterpart wool you can use worsted weight for a pursejust be sure to make a swatch to check your work against the gauge given( how many stiches per inch)
Sure you canWhile your steak is resting, make yourself some gravy Take your steak out and put it on a plate and cover lightly with aluminum foil to keep it warm Use the grease/drippings from the steak to make your gravyTurn your heat up on your pan to about medium-medium highYou should have at least 1 tablespoon of drippingsIf not, add yourself a little veggie oil to make a tablespoonThen I add 1 tablespoon flour to the pan and mix thoroughly with the drippingsConstantly stirring I cook over the heat for a couple minutesYou'll notice a slight nutty aroma Reduce your heatAt this point I add some wine about 1/4 C (remove the pan from the heat before you do this) and mix thoroughlyI put the pan back on the heat then turn the heat back to med-highThen I add either beef broth if I have some or just water while constantly stirringThe amount of water depends on the thickness you want your gravyI stir and let it cook for a couple minutes, add some salt and pepper and enjoy.
