Marijuana Terminology
A bowl is a pipe to smoke weed or an amount of weed that fills the bowl of a pipe. We speak of 'smoking a bowl'. 'Let's smoke a bowl.' A bulldozer is a device for smoking pot with air. You take an empty toilet paper roll and punch a little hole in it and put a joint in it. Then you put one end to your mouth and your hand over the other end. Now while you suck, you control the air getting into the pipe with your hand. The air aerates the smoke and thins it out so it goes farther and has more effect, plus it's milder. This is also called a 'carburetor' or a 'steamboat' or 'steamroller' because it looks a little like a steam engine. They used to make these out of handblown glass. A hitter is a small kind of pipe that looks about like a cigarette. You stick it in the pot and it gets plugged with pot on one end, then you light it and draw on it. It gives you one 'hit' of pot, a 'hit' being a breath of pot. Pot these days is much stronger than it once was (and much more expensive) so this method is very common. Dime, nickel, and quarter are money amounts, A dime bag is ten dollars, a nickel is five dollars, etc. Dank, I think, is pot that smells a certain way. Different kinds of pot are classified this way. There's also 'skunk weed' (smells a little like a skunk), etc. In my day (years ago), 'schoolyard' meant really bad or weak pot, the idea being that schoolkids had the worst pot. Sensimilla (sen-sa-MEE-ya) is not a kind of pot but a way of growing it. You kill all the male plants so the female plants make more resin and get stronger. You can tell sensimilla because it doesn't have seeds, in fact the word means 'without seeds'. Pot is very expensive these days, often more than $400/oz. Back in the 60s/70s you could buy an ounce for $10, but it was much weaker then and you might share a whole 'joint' (cigarette) between three people. Today people carry a tiny little box with a hitter and everyone has one or two hits and that's all they need.
a hitter is anything pertaining to a pipe.
