Question:

Missing Operating System, Change Boot Loader? Help: Trouble with Windows 7?

OK, so when i start up my friend's laptop, it says something like this: Missing Operating SystemChange Boot Loader...or at least something like that. I'm not sure. My friend's call was hours ago and i can't really call him back. Anyway I'm not really sure how to fix that. I only have a Windows 7 recovery disk; no W7 original disk, and neither does my friend. Websites or Personal experiences would help a lot. Cheers.

Check out this link for some steps on how to do a repair of windows
is it possible you have another disk in the computer that it's trying to boot from (a CD or USB Thumb Drive?) - if so removing that might help. also - did someone possibly install another operating system? - perhaps on another internal drive? - if so; you may need to designate the windows partition as the boot partition again. You don't indicate which boot loader is giving you the message. There are several boot loader possibilities; Linux typically uses GRUB or LILO. Windows 7 comes with it's own boot loader that is typically edited with BCDEdit. You may also have a boot.ini file in the root of the file system. - That has to point to the root of the Windows 7 Boot Partition. The articles in sources should help with configuring the Windows 7 Boot Loader.
