My 2007 Ninja with only 3000 miles on it and there are grooves in the rotors already. Are small grooves normal or should i have them resurfaced already? thanks
small grooves are normal and no shop will turn a motorcycle rotor, they get replaced. There isnt enough meat there to remove any material safely
Don't worry about it. My rotors have grooves and the bikes stop just fine. One is grooved due to using pads that were harder than recommended. Never heard that motorcycle rotors could be re-surfaced but that seems like needless expense since the rotors are so thin to begin with.
the groves are normal, unless the disk gets to thin or severely warped it should be okay, my son has the older ninja 250 and we didn't have to replace the disk until 66000 klm (41250) miles.
