I have a motorcycle that‘s fuel injected and throttle by wire and I would like to add an electronic cruise control. I would like it to have the same features as a car cruise control such as set, accel, decel, and cancel. I‘d also like to add safety features like canceling the cruise when the clutch or brake levers are actuated. I have a basic idea of how to work out the PID controller, but I don‘t know what kind of hardware I would need in order to do this. I am pretty sure this is related to embedded systems, but again, I don‘t know what micro-controller, I/O devices, etc, I would need to do something like this.Any help would be much appreciated.
Most 'cruise controls' for motorcycles are little more than a device that clamps onto the throttle to hold it in a fixed position. Potentially dangerous. The idea that when you remove your hand the engine returns to idle is a safety feature that is negated by such a device. Consider what would happen if you 'put the bike down' on a corner.
Aftermarket cruise control systems are available for a variety of bikes. If you find one, it's going to take some modification to get it in your bike, but there will be step-by-step instructions, and it will come with everything you need. Harley has them available for some of their models, as do the Japanese. Is there one for an R6? Haven't heard of one, but I haven't gone looking either. I doubt it'll be cheap. I personally prefer a throttle lock. It's only $20, and it relieves wrist strain while forcing you to pay attention. Full cruise controls are dangerous because they allow your brain to drift a little too far from the task at hand. Just my opinion. Good luck
I feel like it would have good and bad things about it. It would add a more realistic feel and would be pretty darn cool but they would have to be computer determined and that could lead to issues.
Would kinda suck.what I do want is big hits affecting skill players.you get no reward for playing d and hitting star players. How about they lose some stick handling skills, speed and shot accuracy. I always play d and there should be rewards for shutting down forwards. Also be nice to see shot blocks show up on player card during games. There are a ton more things I would like to see but ea won't listen, lol.
Yes! Most of the higher end touring bikes these days offer it either standard or as an option. BMW, H-D, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki I know have it on theirs. I've ridden the cruise equipped Victory and Harley touring bikes and find that it works quite well. If the bike isn't so equipped I tend to put a throttle lock, like a Vista-Cruise, on my own bikes just so I can give my wrist muscles a break on longer rides trips. Throttle locks are not real cruise controls though, so they'll let the bike/engine speed change on inclines. They only hold a throttle setting. Real cruise control actually changes the throttle position electrically to adjust the engine power to maintain a set speed.
