Question:

Muscles used when preforming a Dig?

What specific muscles are used when preforming a dig in the game of volley ball? I am doing a school assignment and have info relating to the muscular and skeletal system, but not sure what a dig is exactly, and which muscles are used.. please help! wannabahippys daughter!

Answer:

a really good dig is when your whole body is strength arms and legs down low to the ground waiting for the ball to bounce off your arms. its a very low squat position. hope it helped.
well you use mostly leg and arm i would say ask someone that knows to show how to do a dig and then do it and fell what muscles you use it is easier to fell it than explain it
a dig is the saving of a hardly hit ball (a spike)....you use you leg muscles to get down on the ground to save the ball and you arms to hold them still and reflect the ball upwards to your setter!!
Legs! You gotta get low to dig. Shoulders need to be strong to help absorbe the impact with low give. Arms in general becaue you gotta pass with them. Hands cause sometimes you need to use your hands to dig.
you mostly use your quads, because of the stance you're in, and also your calves. you also use your abs (core strength) and your upper arm and shoulder muscles. i hope i helped! good luck with your assignment.
