Question:

My car alarm is going off and i cant shut it off?

I got in my car, and when i cranked the engine, the windsheild wipers started going, the lights started flashing, and the horn started honking. I cut the engine off, i pressed the button on the key, and it won‘t turn off. My car is my garage right now going off. How do i shut it up? My car is a 2008 Dodge Caravan.

Answer:

use the key to lock and unlock the driver door. Not the fob but the key. I think the alarm is going off and the wipers are just coincidence and not related. the switch for the wipers was hit somehow.
Usually alarms silence themselves within a few minutes. Maybe as much as 20 minutes. But if all these things are going on then you should disconnect the battery. Have you tried your key fob from outside the car with the door shut? Some cars - and I don't know yours - will not respond to the fob if the key is in the ignition. Try activating and deactivating the alarm from outside the car with all the doors closed. Also check your fob to make sure the panic button is not stuck in. I've never seen that happen but I suppose it IS one possibility. I was working on my wife's car with the key fob in my pocket. Suddenly, while working under the hood, the doors locked. Apparently I leaned on the button. So I suppose stranger things can happen. Do you have a second key fob? Try that one. Hope this helps. ?J? ?
Take a bat and break the car
