my car smoked a little,but got worse when i put in an additive,why?

well when i start the car in the morning or if it sits for a while,it will smoke then clear up.so i put in a stop oil burning additive in the car.( stuff was for 4 cyl engines,which it is)and did not over fill engine.well the next day with less than 15 miles on engine with the additive in the car i went to a friends to change tires.so the car sat for about a half hour.when i started the car it really smoked bad and did for a few days when i started it up in the morning or let it sit for a while.it would clear up but it definitely is smoking worse.so i talked to a notable mechanic and explained the situation to him and he said the additive i put in was the cause and i should change my oil and filter,so i did.the name of the additive was RESTORE a name brand additive.whats your thoughts on this?of course since i just changed the oil and really have not driven the car to see if that will work.but tomorrow i should get some results.thanks for any help.

I believe the comparison would be between a full exhaust and a cat back exhaust.Full exhaust would be everything from the engine back. and Cat back, would be from after the catalytic on back. Replacing the catalytic converter with a high flow cat is pretty expensiveso for the cost a cat back system can be cheaper.and somewhat help performance (or give you a noisy exhaust, if that is what you want). A full exhaust will give you the best performance gain, but at a high cost.
Additives rarely work. Especially with an engine burning oil. Just change your oil and filter and expect it to burn oil a little worse. There is no simple fix for burning oil.
The green stuff is coolant. your leak is probably not what you had repaired, but something else. Probably minor. Just don't let it get over heated, you could do some major damage, could be a heater hose if it's near the back. Pay no attention to that other guy. I'd love to have a decent Cadillac myself. I've had a few Lincoln's and liked them too.Start it up while it's full on coolant with the hood up and as it gets warmed up you'l most likely will see where it's coming from. Good Luck!
Additives really don't work all that well to fix oil control problems. Oil control problems and smoking are usually due to bad/ leaking valve seals, or worn piston rings. You don't mention the age of the vehicle or the mileage, so I would have your mechanic do a compression test to identify the problem.
A Full Flow exhaust is one which has been built with over sized components for better exhaust flow better performance. They usually include installing dual Parallel Catalytic Converters because they are usually the greatest restriction in the whole system. If you want to improve your vehicles performance it is the first step I recommend because it will increase the benefit of every other performance option / action you take.
