Question:

my cat has been pooping on our bathroom rug only poop and only when the rugs out why?

its a black cat a few years old and i also have three dogs do they have any thing to do with it

Answer:

The rug is likely scent marked. Washing it won't help. Try moving it to another room and see if your cat still goes on it. If it does then it's the rug. You can toss it and get a new one or keep it and put it under the litter box.
Possibly the rug has an odor on it that the cat is attracted to. try useing a different rug
I think it's a scent the rug has, probably one of the dogs peed on it without you seeing. Try putting a different rug down, if it stops then I'd put the poop rug under the litter box. :) Hope this helped!
One of my cats poops on my bed whenever I have people over for dinner. It was an anger issue. I resolved it by placing her full food bowl on the bed when I have company. A couple of possible reasons: 1. Dirty litter box 2. Change in litter type 3. Dogs not giving your cat privacy (cats like their privacy) 4. Odor from last incident is not removed 5. Emotional issue There are some good products to clean the rug that will remove the odor that you can buy at a pet store. Make sure to use it in your washer. A spot remover approach may not work. It will need to soak in it. Place her food bowl on the rug for a few days. Cats are very clean animals and will not eliminate where they eat. Good luck!
My cat does this too at times. She will not poop in the litter box if there is another (previous) poop in there. I clean the litter box every day, but due to timing, sometimes she has to go again with a previous poop already in there, so she does it on the rug. Also I change the litter once per two weeks but towards the end of that cycle she will poop on the rug as well because the box is too dirty for her liking. (Never will pee out of the box though.) So make sure your box is clean daily and you get all the poop pieces out. And change the litter about every 1 and a half weeks, no more. Finally, I have a spray that I put on the rug and that stops her. But I have to use it every day - on the second day it won't stop her. It is called Indoor No, and I have a similar product by another brand. I think it has nothing to do with your dogs or anger/jealousy, just the state of the litter box.
