Question:

My dad on an oxygen machine 24/7, his cat is biting through the plastic tubing at all hours.?

Dad drags his tubing through the house and winds it by his bed at night; it can not be mounted high on the wall or on the ceiling. The cat will not do it when he is watching; it happens when he is sleeping or the excess tubing out of sight. Bitter Yuck and similar are not working.

Answer:

Kill the cat before it kills your dad.
Smack the cat or spray it with water when he or she does it or close the bed room door to keep the cat out at night
If you cant get rid of the cat just ask your dad to lock it up in a cage or crate when he goes to sleep. Or if the cat does it other times when hes not asleep spray the cat with a water-vinegar solution until it learns.
sorry to hear this, but if you go to Microcenter, staples, radio shack, or maybe even wal-mart, they sell a plastic tube that is very tough, flexible, and has ridges... if you put that on the oxygen tube, the cat will not be able to chew through it... one of my relatives has a bird that chews through any wires that it can find and since we put this on the nearby wires, the bird has not chewed through any wires... you can also get a spray that repels cats at pet stores, I use this on my Christmas tree because my cat loves climbing on it...
I am also on oxygen therapy and have a cat that will chew on my hoses. I found that when I used black plastic electrical tape to cover the damage, the cat will not chew on the same spot, when I covered the entire tube he no longer chewed on it, guess he does not like the adhesive.
