Question:

My Fire Alarm Batteries Have To Be Changed Monthly?

This is rediculousI feel like I have symptoms of ptsd because you never know when the chirping is going to startsometimes it's not that loud but sometimes it starts out loudand sometimes the fire alarm will even go offjust for the heck of it..yes, I believe these alarms are wired (I rent an apartment) and the landlords maintanance guy has been here several times changing batteriesbut approx every 4 weeks, things start to happen again.I can no longer stand this.I was away a few weeks ago and the neighbors called the fire department because my alarm would not stop.this is rediculous.I have atleast two now that have their green lights on but are blinking redI'm so tired of this but my landlord really doesn't want to look into this..I will have to call someone a bit higher up if this persists

Answer:

Carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air, so detectors should place placed on the wall at least 5 feet above the floor or on the ceiling. The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends one detector per floor of your residence, or at least one detector for each floor that has bedrooms or gas/oil/wood-burning appliances.
Yes it is dusty inside as well. Go to Radio Shack and buy a can of air and spray it inside. You can also get head cleaner there and wipe the residue from the heads and the pinch rollers. But pinch rollers are made of rubber and will dry out. It is best to get them to splurge and buy a vcr that burns dvds and get all of their old tapes archived or risk loosing them forever.
