Question:

My Front Panel Connector isn't working. The computer turns on with reset button.

I just finished building my computer and I am experiencing problems turning my pc on with the cases power button. When I switched the power connector with the restart connector though, the computer runs just fine. -I have a Biostar VIA mainboard and a Power Up! Corporate ATX Case. Thanks

Answer:

It sounds like you have the front panel connectors hooked up to the wrong pins on the motherboard. Double check the pinout in the motherboard manual. Or maybe the manual is incorrect. Check to be sure which pin is pin #1. Maybe you're counting from the wrong end of the pin block. The pin block is typically two rows of 6 or more pins each. The connectors usually don't go across the two rows. They're usually within one row or the other.
there is no problem using the reset button, but it sounds as if you have got the F/P connectors mixed up or reversed polarity. I have used a computer like that for years, but it is annoying I agree. Check for polarity + and - not reversed and in the right place on the front panel connector pins.
i dont see the problem, just use the restart button
