Question:

my high school is preforming phantom.!!!!?

so my high school is preforming phantom of the opera for the musical this year and i have never sung opera. their is a lot of compitition this year for the leads. i dont have the notes for cristine but i would like to go for meg of carlotta. any advoce to help me. or set me apart from other girls.?

Answer:

There should be no change in your singing style for opera. The definition on an opera is simply that the entire thing is sung - there's no speaking. To sing in an opera, you have to have a very strong voice, as well as good articulation. Meg and Carlotta are very different parts. . . You need to pick one before you go into auditions. Carlotta is very over the top, whereas Meg is very reserved.
