Stop in at a place that installs remote starters and have them take a look. They may recognize the system, or give you some ideas where to check.

It depends on the year of your car if your car is from 2000 up most cars have a special chip in the key and they wont start without the key. Have to buy another key with the chip and go to a place where they install remote starters, and tell them to hide the key and attach it to the remote starter. if your car is older, then the problem probably is with the remote start.
