under 400.00 need that automatic transmission
Whether or not you have to tune for the intake will depend on the unit. There are some that work fine with the stock tune and some cause problems. Bottom line is they do not add much noticeable power so why waste the money. The stock intake system is already a cold air system. The filter box draws air from the fender so a simple drop in filter will add the same amount of power which is very little and not enough to feel. If you really want power, buy a used down pipe for about $150 and get an open source re flash for about $350 and gain somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 hp and 60 ft/lb of torque. Now that I guarantee you will feel.
I agree with Garrett, EXCEPT for the last part. A WRX is an AMAZING car. Join some Subaru forums online to get a better idea where to start. An intake does little to raise the HP of the car. Join the forums and get some suggestions.
Inexpensive is in the eyes of the beholder. There are cheap intakes out there. They work about as well as expensive ones. For some cars the improvement is considerable (Corvette, fix your inlet design!) For your car, you'll get about 6 to 16 more hp. This change is so small, you won't have to mess with the ECU. whoopee Note: Muscle cars aren't very muscular
All you have to do is go to Google search. Type in, 1987 toyota pickup automatic transmission. You will have no trouble finding many sources. I do suggest you work this out with a local shop. Once you find it, have it order by your local repair shop. other wise you might be stuck with the labor cost and still have a bad transmission. Please understand that there are 3 kinds of rebuild terms: 1. Re-manufactory means it was rebuild by Toyota. 2. Buying a REBUILD unit means it was from a Transmission rebuild shop, nothing to do with Toyota. 3. Local shop overhaul, this means the monkeys at the local shop is going to do it. Number 1 is the most $, but the least risk. Number 2 is the most popular, and you can buy different length of warrenty. Number 3, Stay away from this option unless you know a person whom is a great transmission rebuilder and has all of the special tools and a clear room. I suggest that you work with a good local shop, order the transmission from a Professional rebuilder other than Toyota. And let them put it in. If you got extra money, get it from Toyota. Good luck david
