My mom wants to start doing ceramics again, but she dosen‘t need classes to do it. Does anyone know a ceramic center that allows you free time, time to do things yourself without classes. I don‘t know maybe like a place where people gather to make their own things. It has to be near southern california.

I am sure there are plenty of places in southern Californian. Have your mother check out community art centers and ceramic studios. Yellow pages and search engines will both give you results. For search engine use your actual location in addition to e.g. ceramic studio or pottery studio. Another option can be to enroll as a non-degree seeking student at an university and take classes there (and yes, there can be classes which mainly consist on discussing the work the students have done and are about design and concept and not about learning the technique; there are often also independent study classes where the student works largely self-directed).
