I have 1971 slide in truck camper with 5 way pin wiring wires are red, white ,yellow, black, green.need to know what wire's do what...thanks
green is common ground. red is usually rear lights, White and yellow are the turn signals Black is the bachk up lights. But it is not standard.
On a 4 wire harness, normally the left turn signal is green, right is yellow, tail lights are brown, and ground is black. The fifth wire is usually for surge brakes as on a heavy trailer. Take a look at the link below for various configurations.
The wires are as follows: 1 = Trailer (battery 12+) wire (for trailer break-away battery) 2. white= ground 3.Green= right turn 4.yellow=left turn 5.Brown ( should not be black) is the tail lamp circuit ADDED: Ground on trailers are always white! And there is NO Black wire on a trailer harness! (if there is you will need to trace it out because someone put the wrong color wire in there!
