Question:

What Exhaust system or combo of header, cats, and muffler, will get my 01 BMW M5 the most possible power gain?

Car enthusiasts or a true owner please answer, my father and I are debating

Answer:

NOE are REQUIRED and most oils today are CAR MAKER focused oils! The RIGHT oils all have SPECIFICATION NUBMERS on the l;abels that indiacte WHICH CAR BUILDERS accpet them as having the RIGHT additivges for THEIR particular eengiens, RINGS pistons, and BEARINGS! NEVER rely upon VOSCOTIY RATINGSS and when STP was out, there was VERY LITTLE real FUEL INJECTION nad NO REAL ENGEIN ALLOYS or COOLINT SYSTEM PLASICS used! The ONLY additve I recommend is CERA-TC made by LUBRO-MOLY company of Germany! It is a CERAMIC that wil fil MOCRON sizzed imperfectinos in BLOCKS, CL+YLIDNER WALLS and mroe and devlers MORE MIELAGE and POER by it's use! ANOTEHR BIG TIEM LOSER is SLICK FIFTY oil additive! It was a GREAT idea to add TEFLONbut is also cause SEALS TO LEAK and TEFLON Only adhers to REAL ALUMINUM! It could cause BEARING DAMAGE na dVLAVE SEAL diStortion as well! WHEN YOU HAVE A MOMENT go to a LARGE auto parts store, and read SEVERAL OIL LABLES! First start with MOBIL ONE 0W-40 oil! It is APPROVED foruse by BMW, BENZ, AUDI,. VW, VOVLO, and SAAB! It is NASCAR approved as well! Then try 0W-30 oil! it meets CHRYSLER, FORD and GM specs! THen try 0W-20 MBOI LONE! It meets most JAPANES and ASIAN specs! LEARN to read and understand ACEA, ILSAC, and JASO codes, and the GL-5 oor 6 ratings on oils! VISCOSITY RATINGS mean next to NOTHING any more! CURRNET OILS are amixture of elements, including ZAINC, PHOSPHORUS, SULFUR, and even ASH! This is why I disapprove of VALVOLINE as it is HGH in ash contetn ( made by teh ASHLAND company) and does POORLyl with engiens that make HIGHER HEAT or have TUROB's on them! IT CANNOT HANDLE HEAT and turns into COKE!MODERN EGNIENS with ACCURATE fuel injections are more PRECISELY MADE and need NO ADDITIVES really! GOOD LUCK!!
Does your owner's manual call for additives? NO. Use what is recommended for your car. Make sure the oil meets the S ratings that is required. No other additives are needed, or should be used.
If you use a quality oil and change at recommended intervals, then additives would be a waste of moneywhat additive would you use that was not already included in the oil This is more of a concern when using cheap gas and adding fuel injector cleanershigh quality gas does not need additional additives. I would be most concerned with your cooling system, the corrosion additives deplete and must be replenished by draining and refilling with fresh 50/50 mix at least every two years.the damage to radiators, heater cores and aluminum parts of your engine can be extensive and expensive.just look on this site all the questions asked about replacement of such which could have been avoided with proper maintenance.
There just isn't all that much power to be gained from the exhaust. At the very most about 10HP. $1000 is a lot of money to spend for a measly 10 HP. But you asked. Install long tube headers. No muffler or exhaust. Make sure you tune the computer to work with this modification.
