Question:

nervous about preforming in front of school?

in two weeks my dance class will be performing our solos/ group dances in front of some of the classes at school. im really nervous not like butterflies in my stomach nervous like every time i think about it i want to vomit or pass out, my heart starts pounding an i get really sweaty. Why am i so scared, i mean ive done speeches in front of a a class before and i was nervous but never as bad as this. i want to ask my teacher if i can come after school and perform the dance just in front of her, but what if she says no. If i have to do my solo in front of the school i will start to cry, and this will be so embarrassing ! I know i sound like a cry baby but what should i do and why do i feel this way? By the way everyone in my class is paired up and or is either doing solo dances, these girls have been dancing for years that's why there not as nervous unlike me :(

Answer:

Put all of your thought, heart, and soul into your dance. I used to get really nervous at my color guard competitions, but if you just put all of your thought into the movement and let the music fill you, there's no room for nervousness. You can also talk to some of the other girls and see what they think, 'cause it's pretty likely that they have felt this nervous too. If it's making you sick, you could also talk to your guidance counselor. Hope this helps, and goodl uck at your dance :)
put all of your focus into dance and think about the movements,if you think about other things like oh is that cute boy watching me, or oh do I look stupid? no. you need to just focus all your energy and show everyone you don't care what they think and you r proud to be there, hope this helps:)
You just need to find your confidence in dancing. Practice in front of your family members or close friends to see if your nervousness has the same effect. Just go out there and have fun and don't even think that the audiences are there. Imagine it like a fourth wall or something . Good luck .
It's all about preparation, the more prepared you are the more confident you will be. Also being nervous can be a good thing!
