Question:

Nervous to preform?!!!?!!?

I get sooo nervous and I'm singing at a coffee shop tonight and I'm freaking out! How do I calm my nerves!?!

Answer:

hahaha i like the first answer :) ^^^^ anyways im a violinist and whenever i get nervous i automatically start laughing... which is a very bad thing because i preform like all the time. This might sound really really stupid but it works - eat a banana about an hour before you sing, and clap a steady slow beat so your heart will regulate to that speed and you'll be less nervous. i know these things sound weird but it works for me
Just picture yourself in your underwear... Oh no wait. Just picture the audience in their underwear. OH GAWD! Look at that fat chick in the second row! And that dude up front, ewwwww why does he have so much hair?!?! OH MY GOD IS THAT MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR?!?! Haha, just kidding. Relax, and you'll do fine.
you purely favor to discover your self assurance in dancing. prepare in the front of your kin or close acquaintances to work out in case your anxiety has an same result. only bypass obtainable and characteristic exciting and do not even imagine that the audiences are there. imagine it like a fourth wall or something . strong success .
Practice performing at home by yourself. Only think about the performance. Where the music is going, what you are trying to do to make it great. Think about how your music sounds. You must learn to do this in practice and performance. It is impossible to think about 2 things at the same time. So every moment you are on stage you focus only on the performance. You will perform better than you ever have before. Give this some thought. If you are thinking about the music all the time, it is going to make you better.
it might sound daft but ... try to focus on one spot, dont look directly at the people or you might freak out and lose your nerve. concentrate on one object or one area and focus on singing it right. obviously dont stare at the floor or ceiling but trust me it does help. its like when your scared of heights you dont look down. also if your of age you could have a small drink beer or something to loosen you up a bit. hope this helps. you'll do fine honestly and with all the noise and bustle any mistakes would go unnoticed <3 and bear in mind none of these people could probably sing half as good as you!
