but there is NOOO fire.how long does it normally take for them to turn themselves off?
Well the electric blanket should be switched on half an hour prior to going bed. Then switch it off. Having it on for all night will effect your back.
Why not just try it? Can you get a small piece of the fiberglass cloth? I'd invest in a small bit, put it over a piece of plywood and shower it with sparks. You'll not only have a yes/no as to whether or not it is viable, but you'll also see if it is somewhat viable and decide if some burn-through is acceptable.
I usually get a couple of family members to stand in strategic locations and we stand there (looking very funny I'm sure) until we figure out which one is chirping. The more people the better. Too bad they don't change color or something so you know which one. I always wondered if the light color meant something, but never figured it out.
Good morning Iamme, Think about this. If electric blankets were a very real threat, (especially with today's advances in construction of them), they would have been 'recalled' already.. Earlier versions, before modern safety standards were applied, probably were a 'Caveat Emptor' (let the buyer beware). That being said, however, you should certainly go with what makes you feel safer. I have personally solved this dilemma by getting a waterbed. (Toasty warm in the winter, refreshingly cool in the summer) Peace, Buzzy
We keep ours on all nite..not a problem..it's the blanket with a brainlike any other electrical appliance, we don't unplug stuff at nite. I don't see it being a concern, unless your specific instructions and warnings say otherwise.
