as you are aware the lund is set up for a short shaft motoryou can use the long shaft outboard but it will be deeper in the water which means you need to be a lot more careful running in shallow water, at non planning speeds there is not as much concerns other than more drag but as you approach planning speed you may see water being lifted up on the transomyou may also experience problems with the trim of your boat, the longer shaft motor can cause a bow down trim at higher speedthe depth of the prop may make it harder to get the boat on a planeyour best bet is to buy a short shaft motor, or raise the height of the motor mounting with a jack plate, you may be able to design a your own raised motor mounthope this helps
