Question:

Origin Issues (What is User Account Control?)?

I'm trying to download The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, and I had to pause the download and shut my computer down. When I started it up and opened up Origin to complete the download, it came up with this message exactly: We've encountered a problem. Windows needs your permission to complete this action. Please click Yes in the User Account Control prompt to continue. What one earth is the User Account Control prompt??? I'm using my mom's computer if that helps any.

Answer:

They should not be coming in without a search warrant. There is no reason for them to enter your home except to search it. Therefore if they try to come in and it is not to tell you that someone has been in an accident, the only thing that can come out of their visit is something bad. What if they saw something they thought was suspicious, like a child who is not dressed running around the house. This could lead to an investigation about your parenting and possible abuse even though this child was being potty trained and needed their clothes off. Or was about to take a bath when the doorbell rang. Get the number to the police that service your area. When the police come to your door, tell them you will be right back. Lock the door and all other doors. Call the police station to verify that they are real cops. If they are real cops, tell the person on the phone that you do not want them at your house. If they complain, ask to talk to a supervisor. When they leave go down to the court house to file a police report on the situation. Also ask for anything documenting why they keep coming to your house. You may also consider having your most mature child videotape them harassing you. Be sure to get on tape that you do not know where the man is, that you do not consent to them going into your home, and that their behavior is scaring both you and the children. It is fine if they see the child videotaping, but he should only do so from inside. An older child might be able to video tape covertly. Just have the video camera out on the counter or something so it is accessible when they come. You may also have a cell phone or regular camera that could take a limited amount of film. You could also have a sign on your door (take a picture of it in case they steal it) saying that all unsolicited conversations are subject to audio recording. Have a tape recorder by the door and press record when you see that it is police at the door.
Wow that's terrible! Try and get them on tape or ANYTHING proving that they are doing this stuff next time! Get a lawyer as soon as possible, and if you can't afford one, go to your local news station and tell them everything! They'll just love this! you won't have any problems after that! and everyone in your community will support you! hopefully there wont be a next time!
I gotta say those cops sound corrupt. I would explain it to a higher up person in that field. No.. well my god.. that's wrong. They make threats in front of your children to take them away? Wrong. They can not break down your door just for that. Get it changed fast, your adress.
Without a warrant, they have absolutely no right to enter your home without permission. The next time they show up, just tell them that you aren't letting them in. You have a right to privacy as long as you aren't breaking the law. Edit- Also, if they are actually making threats about taking your kids away or forcibly coming into your home, you could probably sue them for a LOT of money. Get a lawyer.
Have the drives previously worked ? Is the 80 Gig the New One ? Were the other ones Previously Masters ? It is very Likely you may need to change the Pins so that the Drives can be seen. POSSIBILITY
