Question:

Orthodontist using Damon brackets?

I had an orthodontist appointment early this morning and it went well until I got home and noticed something strange. I've had braces for almost two years now, so I know when something is up. My orthodontist uses Damon brackets that are self-ligating, they have doors on them that click open and close in order to keep the wire in place. When I got home I realized that all the doors on my brackets were open when their usually not. But the thing is my orthodontist put me into a 19.25 TMA wire, which I don't think I've ever had before either. Should the doors on Damon brackets be left open?

Answer:

The assistant may not have snapped them closedbetter give them a call ASAP. We use a bracket like the damon style for the 3 Month Braces technique and sometimes they don't always snap down all the way the first time.
