well for paint you want a water cleanup, latex based paint. Thebest selling carpets in the world are dupont stain master carpeting.(about75% of all carpeting sold)

I am a painting contractor who works exclusivley in the luxury home market and the paints we use for walls are benjamin moore regal or pratt and almpert accolade....for the woodwork it is benjamin moore satin impervo enamel....and 90% of the carpets in the homes I work in are Karistan..they are possibly the best brand out there.

To say what is best depends on the planned usage, what style you are looking for and how heavy the traffic you are going to have on the carpet. I recommend going to some of the showrooms to compare the brands and types. Ask if the salespeople are on commission. Commissioned sales persons usually try to sell the most expensive, not what is necessarly needed or best. As far as paint, Behr paint is the best paint for your dollar.
