Question:

Painted the garage floor?

Hey guys, Last year i painted my garage, its a concrete floor, and the garage floor. It looked really good and i always gotten compliments on how good the garage was. This year most of the paint on the floor just pealed off and it looks bad. i think i needed to apply sealant after the paint which i didn't. I did apply 2 coats of paint but still the paint didn't hold.I'm going to repaint the floor again but any suggestions on what i could do this time to prevent what happend over the winter. Some part of the garage sticks out and due to the snow, wind all that paint just isnt there anymore..lolthanks

Answer:

If you just used regular paint it will never hold up to the concrete. You need to use a special epoxy type primer/paint. They make special kits for garage floors at most hardware stores. Better yet, remove all the paint and have it acid etched for a permanent color.
If it was the same paint that you painted the garage with, there is your problem. You will need to spend the extra money and use a concrete compatible product. There are several sealants out there that range from about 20-$100 per gallon. As you can imagine, the more you spend, the more you get. For a couple hundred, dollars for the whole project, you can get the high end stuff that ends up like a textured rubber that is easy to clean and has a lifetime warranty. I think I got it at Sherwin Williams. Good luck.
did you primer the floor first the would have help prevent the peeling. do use sealent also
