Question:

Pelvic exam chair?

I am having my first pap smear tomorrow and on the information i was given it says i will need to sit in a gynecological chair for the exam. My room mate said she had to lie on a table and put her feet in the stirrups. Which is right? How can I be examined if i am sitting in a chair, you need to spread your legs for this exam right?

Answer:

I even have chanced on the chair is sturdy for inner approaches no longer usually carried out throughout a pap smear or cervical examination.. It helps deeper view . Sorry for the soreness. I nevertheless use the tables for many all my prepare. thank you Dr. ok
a gynelogical chair is the same thing as lying on the table with ur feet in stirrups, i would think. i cant see them having u sit in a chair, maybe they just have different vocabulary than we do!
A pelvic exam chair is just like a table almost. You start out sitting, but the Dr. hits a button and the chair reclines all the way back until you are laying flat on your back and your feet are already in the upright position because of where you put your feet on the chair (they technically ARE stirrups...they just look a little different). Hope this helps!
