Question:

Permed hair and straightening irons?

Can you straighten up permed hair with an iron? Is it damaging?Jessie xx

Answer:

run like heck out of there naked or not being embarrassed is a lot better than being dead
I think thats hot. Clothes are overrated anyway. Who needs them?
yeah shud be able to - perms change certain bonds in the hair structure permanently, where as blow drying and straightening doesnt change the hair structure permanently. if ur hairs tangling up - use a deep conditioning treatment ( a reconstructor will help repair the hair) and a leave in conditioner to help detangle and add moisture 2 the hair. when straightening, use a thermal protection spray *** to reverse a perm involves using more chemicals - same chemicals used for a perm but to relax instead and tht does kill ur hair ****did they not teach u hairdressin megan - ur is NOT burned to make it curly, perm lotion breaks and changes the bonds in the hair permanently.neutriliser is added to make sure the hair stays in its new shape.i.e. evn if the hair is straightened or what not if u wash the hair it will go bk to its new shape - curly. if u keep doing comditioing treatments - reconstructing 1s, ur helping to repair any damage to the hair
like you mean a clothes iron? or like a flat iron for hair? cuz either way its gonna be damaging. anything you do to your hair is damaging. but a little secret. if you have permed hair and want it straight and dont have a hair straightener. u can use an iron. i wouldnt recommend it. because it can be more damaging then a regular hair straightener but if u decide to use it. go to a beauty supplies store. or a salon and pick up a shine spray. itll keep the hair somewhat protected and will also make it shiny. just when using shine spray DO NOT use near scalp area because your hair will look like a grease pit. good luck hun.
Any thermal styling is drying to the hair. Permed hair is already more delicate because of the chemical process it has been through. Compensate by using a thermal protectant when you are using the iron to protect your hair from the drying effects of the hairdryer and flat iron.(almost every company has somethingMatrix: Thermal Setting Spray, Biosilk: Smoothing Solution or Silk Therapy; CHI: Iron Guard; Redken, Fabricate you get the idea there are tons of them) It is also important to use a gentle shampoo and conditioner that are designed for chemically treated hair especially if you also color or hilight.
