I am thinking of buying a tiny house, not too much more than 1200 sq. ft. But there's room and the configuration is right for an major addition. Should the addition have copper or PEX water lines? I want the house to last a century and it might stay in the family for that long.
use type l copper if you want it to last 100 years pvc for the drains
After 25 years of soldering copper joints I found myself facing a dilemma with a small bathroom reno. I reluctantly purchased the Pex products and the tools to do the job and then tied it into the copper lines in the basement. I was amazed at how easy the Pex went together and would recommend it to anyone with any type of plumbing project. Done properly it will last as long as the house is standing. My new home will have Pex from one end to the other! One word of warning! Use the proper crimp connectors sold with the Pex pipe (and the correct crimping tool) and DO NOT use hose clamps! Hose clamps were not made to do the job of the crimp connectors and WILL FAIL after time!
