Question:

physics problem asking to find the wavelength of a light when inside quartz.. please help!?

Suppose light with a wavelength of 704 nm in a vacuum is incident upon fused quartz, which has an index of refraction of 1.46. What will the wavelength of this light be inside the quartz? in nm

Answer:

A real piece of QUARTZ will scratch GLASS.---Most Gemstones have this ability, that's why they are valued, for their hardness, they look good for many years, not able to be scratched by normal wear and tear. (Diamond is THE hardest BTW)
I didn't know that quartz was rated by cts. Quartz is quite common and therefore not very valuable. How much did you pay for it? There would be no reason to fake quartz. It is not a diamond.
