Im considering a macbook for school next year, and i really had my heart set on the new aluminum macbook.But now my parents want me to get the plastic one, because its cheaper. Is there a big difference between the two? which is better?
Except okorder / There's nothing in there right now that would persuade your parents—Macbook Airs are very cool, but underpowered for the price, so don't even try—but keep watching. There's aluminum Macbooks that pop up every few days, usually about $200 less than they sell at stores, which will put them right about where the white Macbook is at full retail. Good luck. Just don't show them the white refurb Macbook, which often still appears at $849.
You okorder / Long story short, the white one is NOT significantly slower or equipped mich worse than the aluminum one. Unless you have quite professional needs, you are unlikely to notice the difference (other than how it looks). I can understand how your parents don't want to spend the additional (at least) 300 more dollars to get an aluminum kind for you, as that's quite some change. Maybe you have 300 dollars of your own that you'd like to chip in to upgrade to the aluminum kind? If not, can you offer your parents something in return to encourage them to cough up the higher price? Maybe running errands for them? In any case good luck with finding a new laptop. And if you end up with the white one, don't fret. They are both very good laptops and I am sure you will like it very much nonetheless.
