anyone tell me what are the calculation formulaes to calculate heat exchange in plate type heat exchanger? how we calculate efficiency of plate type heat exchanger?( cross fluid flow type )
The problem has to be solved by no. of heat transfer units(NTU) method: NTU=(U).(A) / (min. thermal capacity rate) Here U: overall heat transfer coefficient A: Surface area of heat exchanger exposed the min. thermal capacity rate is the value of m.c of hot or cold fluid, whichever is lower The NTU gives a measure of size and heat transfer of the exchanger. Effectiveness (not efficiency) = {1-(exp)[-NTU(1+C)]} / (1+C) where C=c_min/c_max All these values would be given by the vendor in a chart or tabular form...
